LEONARDO DE CAMPOS MELO graduated in Law from the Pontifical Catholic University of Rio de Janeiro (PUC-RJ).

In December 2011, he was awarded a Master of Laws degree (LL.M) by the Center on International Commercial Arbitration at American University, Washington, D.C. — he wrote a paper with a thorough analysis on the recognition of foreign arbitral awards in Brazil.

In August 2010, he obtained a Master’s Degree in Civil Law from the State University of Rio de Janeiro — he wrote a thesis on the extension of the arbitration agreement to non-signatories based on the group of companies’ doctrine.

In 2005, he concluded specialist postgraduate courses in Business Law and Capital Markets, Regulation of the Electric Energy Sector and Employment Law and Business, all run by the Continuing Education Program of the Getúlio Vargas Foundation (FGV).

He has published a book and articles in the fields of Civil Law and Arbitration Law.
